Biographical

Charles E. Geister III is a partner in the Oklahoma City law firm of Hartzog Conger Cason LLP. He has practiced law for over 40 years. His practice focuses on litigation, including the areas of commercial disputes, securities and antitrust, environmental cases, insurance and employment law. He frequently serves as a mediator or arbitrator of disputes and lawsuits. He also has served as a court-appointed Discovery Master.

Mr. Geister graduated with a B.A. from the University of Oklahoma. He received his Juris Doctor degree, with honors, from the University of Oklahoma College of Law in 1980. While in law school, Mr. Geister served as Editor-in-Chief of the Oklahoma Law Review, and achieved Order of the Coif.

Mr. Geister is recognized in Best Lawyers in America in the areas of Bet-the-Company Litigation, Commercial Litigation, Insurance Law, Litigation-Antitrust, Litigation-Labor & Employment, and Litigation-Securities. He has been named the Best Lawyers’ Oklahoma City Lawyer of the Year in Bet-the-Company Litigation (2022), Insurance Law (2011, 2017 and 2024), Litigation – Securities (2014 and 2025), and Litigation – Antitrust (2016, 2020, 2023, and 2025). Mr. Geister is admitted to practice in the State of Oklahoma, United States District Court for the Western, Northern, and Eastern Districts of Oklahoma, the 10th Circuit Court of Appeals, and the United States Tax Court. He has several published opinions including Evans v. McDonald’s Corp., 936 F.2d 1087 (10th Cir. 1991), Wood v. Eli Lily & Co., 38 F .3d 510 (10th Cir. 1994), Crabtree v. Muchmore, 904 F .2d 1475 (10th Cir. 1990), Woulfe v. Eli Lily & Co., 965 F. 2d 1478 (E. D. Okla. 1997), Craft v. Chopra, 907 P. 2d 1109 (Okla. App. 1995), Wilkinson v. Dean Witter Reynolds, Inc., 933 P.2d 878 (Okla. 1997), Champagne Metals v. Ken-Mac Metals, Inc., 458 F. 3d 1073 (10th Cir. 2006), and BancFirst v. Cox, 2007 OK CIV APP 123, 175 P. 3d 957. He has lectured in the areas of trial practice, civil procedure, mediation, and insurance law.

Mr. Geister is a member of the State Bar of Oklahoma, American Bar Association, and Oklahoma County Bar Association. He has served as Vice President of the Oklahoma Bar Association (2021); President of the Oklahoma County Bar Association (2007-2008); Past Director, Oklahoma County Bar Association; President and Director, Oklahoma County Bar Foundation; Member, Oklahoma County Bar Association Bench and Bar Committee; Member, Oklahoma Bar Association Civil Procedure Committee (1995-2000); and Chair, Oklahoma County Bar Association Continuing Legal Education Committee (2003-2005). He is also a member of the  Committee on Local Civil Rules of the United States District Court for the Western District of Oklahoma. He received the Oklahoma Bar Association's John E. Shipp Award for Ethics in 2022.
